4 Disciplines of Execution
When I read that every year, different organizations spend more than $30 billion on creating strategies, and that more than 80% of those strategies fail, I am impressed. FranklinCovey's 4 Execution Disciplines methodology aims to proportionate increasing strategic execution to these organizations by creating a high-performance culture.
Change follows a pattern, and a leader can benefit from a framework we call the Change Model. Because change is a human effort, the most effective change leaders prioritize the needs of their people over strict adherence to a process. As a Lead Teacher, my focus is on teaching how to turn the uncertainty of change into opportunity (and develop my students' ability to move through current and future changes more effectively).
The mission is to enable greatness in every student within my school, essentially about change. Developing exceptional students, instilling habits of effectiveness, building an inclusive and high-trust culture, or providing a common execution framework linked to "tremendously" important objectives, in influencing so that change is in their heart and we can appreciate how they live, work and achieve individual and collective "great purposes".
In my innovation plan, Innovation Proposal RT I propose to expand the use of blended learning in the classroom while incorporating a dual language program. This approach would be beneficial to everyone involved as the kids would be learning both languages. Strengthening their communication skills for English native speakers and Spanish native speakers.
My goal is that with this plan, we will see students take ownership of their development and begin to see improvements in their blended learning and willingness to change.
In order for this type of change to be successful, I have proposed a plan to help educate teachers on the benefits of the two way dual language program and how to use it in their classrooms. It begins by offering a professional development course for teachers in the summer, then during the first phase of implementation, beginning to use it in all reading, writing, and social studies classrooms.
The 4 Disciplines of Execution (4DX) (McChesney, Covey, Huling, 2012).
The framework focuses on how you can execute the plan to move your team forward:
Discipline 1: Focus on what is tremendously important
My WIG is to implement dual-language immersion programs for language proficiency and academic achievement in students' first and second languages, and cross-cultural understanding.
Implement blended learning stations in at least reading and writing classes using rotating station activities 65% of instructional time by August 2023.
The team will analyze the feasibility of the proposed MCI and make any required changes.
This in-class blended learning environment is intended first for the Language Department at my school, Administrators, that our success creates other departments to explore their own blended learning experiences. We will need continued support from all areas involved to ensure there are enough other teams to make our proposal successful.
(Research shows that dual language proficiency provides significant benefits, including improved academic achievement, enhanced decision-making and problem solving skills, empathy, and expanded career opportunities.)
Discipline 2: Law on Lead Measures
In order to realize our WIG by August 2023, our team will need to establish lag and lead measures. At our first meeting, I will suggest the following lag and lead measures:
Lag Measure – Implement blended learning stations in at least one bilingue class using station rotation activities at least 30% of instructional time by May 2023.
Lead Measure – Use station rotation activities during at least one class meeting out of five each week.
As each teacher in our area adjusts their time and their unique work plan, we will discuss proposed lag and lead measures to implement as needed. We will discuss our achievement of our predictive measure targets, seek consensus on incremental changes to increase the use of station rotation activities, and the level of progress in the two dual language programs.
Discipline 3: Keep a Convincing Score
During our weekly WIG meetings, each teacher will show their strategy to implement in their station rotation model that focuses on interpersonal and presentational speaking in English 1. They will also record the total number of days their classes worked in learning stations. combined. The best way to record and publish progress so that the scoreboard is visible and effective will be discussed by consensus.
Each week we will ask a teacher to record your progress and a line graph of the week's report.

Discipline 4: Create a Cadence of Accountability
Knowing MCI can be easily lost due to daily classroom responsibilities, we will meet once a week for the purpose of checking our MCI measurements, lagging and leading. During this meeting, we will complete the following tasks, starting with the team leader:
-
Review the score from the previous week.
-
Report on the success of our commitments from the previous week, if necessary to clear the way to facilitate the completion of the week's commitments.
-
Make commitments for the following week.
Recognizing that the World Languages Department teaches in multiple buildings throughout our School District, teachers will have the option of attending the WIG meeting using Google Meet or another virtual meeting application.
